Police briefs: Suspect held in custody after assault charge

NANAIMO – Nanaimo man also convicted of robbery and sentenced to jail time.

One man is being held in custody for an alleged violent assault.

Kevin Michael Wiebe, 33, of Nanaimo, appeared in Nanaimo Provincial court  Monday where was formally charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The charge stemmed from an assault to a woman in late December. Wiebe is being held in custody until his next court appearance Feb. 23.

 


Another man has been sentenced to jail time for a robbery with a firearm.

 

Michael William Edward Eadie, 26, of Nanaimo, was sentenced to 715 days jail time Monday for using a firearm to rob a woman at an ATM outside the TD Canada Trust at Port Place Mall Jan. 6.
