Police hope someone has information that can point them to two palm trees that were taken from a motel in south Nanaimo this month.

According to a Nanaimo RCMP press release, two potted palm trees went missing from the front of the Value Lodge Motel at 736 Nicol St. sometime between midnight and 6 a.m. on Dec. 2. The trees had been kept in the same spot at the motel for 10 years.

“[They] are over five feet tall and extremely heavy. It would require at least two people and a pickup to remove them,” the release noted.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP detachment non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file No. 2021-44370.
