A pedestrian who was hit by a pickup truck sustained only minor injuries.
A man was struck while walking in a marked crosswalk Wednesday night behind Country Club Centre. The incident occurred at about 5:25 p.m. at the intersection of Norwell Drive and Departure Bay Road.
Nanaimo Fire Rescue on scene said the pedestrian was crossing Departure Bay Road when he was hit by a pickup turning left from Norwell onto Departure Bay Road.
The pedestrian was wearing dark-coloured clothing. He was taken to hospital for observation; injuries were believed to be minor.
Traffic was blocked in two directions for about half an hour while crews cleared the scene.
