NANAIMO – Open burning requires .4 of a hectare of land.

An article appearing in the News Bulletin’s Saturday, April 13, edition, Backyard burn permits needed, omitted information.

Burning permits may only be issued for an open burning fire on a lot that is .4 hectare in size or greater, or for lots located on Protection Island.
