One man dead after motorcycle crash near Nanoose

Police found one man dead when they arrived at the scene of a motorcycle collision on the weekend.

The crash happened Sunday at about 9 a.m. in the Nanoose Flats area, between Nanaimo and Parksville, when a man driving a motorcycle southbound on the Island Highway appeared to have lost control of the bike, police said.

The victim, 33, from the Lower Mainland was killed at the scene.

Oceanside RCMP have not released the victim's name pending notification of family. The crash is being investigated by RCMP Central Island Traffic Services and the B.C. Coroners Service.
