The newest regional park will open in Nanoose Bay next weekend.
The Regional District of Nanaimo hosts a family picnic from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on June 18 to mark the official opening of Moorecroft Regional Park.
The schedule includes a picnic in the meadow until 1 p.m., opening ceremonies from 1-1:30 p.m. and family activities from 1:30-3 p.m.
Free shuttle buses will run every 20 minutes from Nanoose Bay Elementary School to the park and back. There will be no public parking available at Moorecroft Regional Park.
