New funding supports crisis and mental health call lines

NANAIMO – Crisis Line Association of B.C. secures funding for to keep suicide and mental health support lines open until 2015.

The Crisis Line Association of B.C. has received funding from the Provincial Health Services Authority to keep telephone help lines operating for another year.

1800SUICIDE and 310Mental Health Support networks enhance access to 24-hour B.C. crisis lines with easy to remember, toll-free numbers and routing technology that directs calls to the nearest crisis line network partner. This cost-effective service saves lives and lessens demand on police, ambulance and hospital resources.

B.C. crisis lines rely upon volunteers supported by professional staff to deliver 24-hour service.
