UPDATE: Search continues for missing Nanaimo woman who may have been seen in Harewood

UPDATE: In spite of what they say has been an exhaustive search, Nanaimo RCMP have been unable to locate a missing woman.

Sarah Rekrut, 34, was reported missing by her family on March 2. Since that time police have focused their efforts in the Nanaimo area. On Friday, March 11, Rekrut was spotted in south Nanaimo on Bruce Avenue. Police responded promptly to this report but were unable to locate her.

Several reports have since been received of a woman resembling Rekrut in the John Barsby Secondary School neighbourhood. The reports said a person resembling the missing woman was seen wearing a pink jacket with brown fur around the collar. Investigators have been unable to independently verify this information.

Police continue to ask for the public’s help in trying to locate the missing woman.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: A woman who hasn’t had contact with family members for nearly two years has now been reported missing.

The Nanaimo RCMP is asking for the public’s help to find 34-year-old Sarah Rekrut, who was reported missing by her family on March 2.

Investigators have established that the last confirmed sighting of Rekrut was on Jan. 16 in Nanaimo. Prior to that, she was seen a number of times the previous spring in downtown Nanaimo. Currently it is unknown where she is residing.

Rekrut is 5-foot-5, 125 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345, and quote file No. 2022-7175.
