Nanaimo school district appoints Cedar Secondary and Learn at Home principals

NANAIMO – The Nanaimo school district announced the appointment of new principals Monday.

Darcy Hoff, Dover Bay Secondary School vice-principal, will take on the role of principal at Cedar Secondary School, which is slated to open in September.

Hoff helped guide Dover Bay's learning program and math learning centre, the school district said in a press release.

Patrick Young will be principal of the new Learn at Home K-12 facility when it opens at the old Mount Benson Elementary School site in September.

Young has experience as headmaster at Rock City Elementary, where is currently, and Seaview Elementary. He was also district vice-principal of learning alternatives and teacher and coordinator of the Learn at Home 8-12 program.

Hoff assumes his new post on Feb. 1 and Young will do likewise in September.
