Chairman Steve Rae is in hospital being evaluated by doctors, according to the Nanaimo school district.
Rae was admitted to hospital Saturday and remains in the Intensive Care Unit, according to a district press release. Trustee Stephanie Higginson will act as chairwoman in his stead.
“This is a personal matter for Steve and the board wishes him strength in recovering from this at this point,” said Higginson.
Higginson said she will remain acting chairwoman until Rae is ready to resume his duties.
