NANAIMO – Suspect vehicle said to be mid-sized black car, driver said to be older female with white hair.

Nanaimo RCMP are seeking assistance in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run late Friday night.

On Friday at about 11:42 p.m., bike patrol officers noticed a vehicle strike a pedestrian in a crosswalk on Front Street, next to the Port Theatre, said Nanaimo RCMP’s Sgt. Sheryl Armstrong in a press release.

The vehicle drove around the victim and continued north on Front Street and later sideswiped a taxi. One of the officers immediately went to assist the victim while the other officer tried to locate the suspect vehicle. Patrols were made … however the vehicle was not located,” Armstrong said.

The vehicle is described as a mid-sized black car and the driver, an older female with white hair. The vehicle may have suffered front-end damage and could have yellow paint on the driver’s side.

Armstrong said the victim, a 30-year-old man from Nanaimo, was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and received stitches on his head and treatment for a shoulder injury. He was released Saturday morning.
