Nanaimo RCMP appeal to public to help locate dog's shooter

NANAIMO – Multiple callers reported a dog was shot in Roberta and Frames road area.

Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public's help to identify whoever was responsible for shooting a pitbull in the Chase River area, south of Nanaimo.

On Sunday, police received multiple calls from Roberta and Frames roads about a dog being shot, with one caller saying she heard a gunshot and then a dog yelp. A resident was able to catch the injured dog and Nanaimo Animal Control assisted in getting the dog to a veterinary clinic for treatment. X-rays show a small bullet lodged under the dog's skin.

The dog is expected to recover. B.C. SPCA was able to find its owner.
