Nanaimo police officer injured in motor vehicle accident

NANAIMO – Police SUV involved in three-vehicle accident at Island Highway and Norwell Drive.

The intersection at Bowen Road, Norwell Drive and the Island Highway is closed while Nanaimo RCMP investigates a three-vehicle collision involving an unmarked RCMP SUV.

Officers on scene reported no significant injuries to any of the three drivers involved in the accident, which happened shortly after 3:30 p.m.

North-bound traffic on the highway is being re-routed east onto Norwell Drive.

The intersection will be closed for some time while the collision is investigated.

Motorists should try to avoid the area if possible.
