Nanaimo Mounties seek home invasion suspects

NANAIMO – A 70-year-old man was tied up while his home ransacked Monday morning.

Nanaimo Mounties are looking for suspects who tied up a 70-year-old man after breaking into his home on Monday morning.

The homeowner at Quilchena Crescent was sleeping when awoken by a noise. Using his walker to get to the living room, he was suddenly forced into a chair and tied up. Before a hood was placed over his head, he saw a male and female suspect wearing masks.

The male suspect rummaged through the house while the female stood guard. A safe was located, smashed open and an undisclosed amount of money and jewelry  taken.

As the suspects left, they told the homeowner to count to 100 and not call police – which he did a few minutes after the suspects left. He did not require hospitalization but was shaken by the ordeal.

The suspects are described as Caucasian and in their 20s.

Anyone with information is asked to please call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com
