Nanaimo RCMP are on the lookout for a white van with a dragon painted on its side following an attempted abduction Thursday.
A 14-year-old female was walking along Irwin Street at 8 p.m. when a van pulled up alongside.
“The driver told the female to get it and when she refused, he reached out to grab her but she ran away,” said Const. Sherri Wade, RCMP spokeswoman. “The only description we have of the driver is he was wearing a black hoodie.”
The van is described as an older white model with dark tinted windows and a one-metre long red dragon painted on the passenger side.
The description of the van was sent out to patrol cars, taxi companies and ferry terminals, said Wade.
Anyone with information on the van is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com.
