The Nanaimo RCMP hopes to return an outboard motor and kayak to their owners.
Both items were found earlier this week and are being held for safe keeping.
The Mercury outboard motor was found on Tuesday near the high tide mark on Place Road in Cedar. Nothing else was found at the location that could identify its owner.
Five Mercury outboards were reported stolen in the last month, but none match this particular one.
On Wednesday, investigators seized a green Oracle seagoing kayak from people known to police who, after questioning, agreed to hand the kayak over to the officers.
