According to police, the craft – a 1976 17-foot Boston Whaler Montauk, serial number 13K61442 – was stolen Thursday from the Mud Bay Community Dock on Protection Island.

The boat has a three-blade stainless prop, a Mercury outboard engine and a highly noticeable iron cross tie down mounted on its deck.

When the vessel was stolen it was not insured and there was no fuel in it.
