A Nanaimo man has died following a crash Wednesday.

The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m. when a blue Cadillac went off the road and struck at power pole in the 2000 block of Estevan Road.

The driver, Donald McKay, 79, of Nanaimo, was rushed to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, but died shortly after arriving. McKay appeared to have suffered a heart attack, which caused him to lose control of his car, police said.
