Nanaimo man charged following drug bust

Police turned up cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and several thousand dollars in cash when they searched a residence on Fifth Street Tuesday.

Police turned up cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and several thousand dollars in cash when they searched a residence on Fifth Street Tuesday.

Const. Sherri Wade said the search was conducted at 7:30 p.m. by general duty members and the Crime Reduction and Municipal Drug units.

Police are not releasing information about the quantities of drugs or the amount of cash seized.

Two men, age 39 and 32, and one woman, 21, all residents of the property, were taken into custody.

Michael Byrne, 32, of Nanaimo appeared in Nanaimo provincial court Wednesday charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Wade said the other two suspects were released, but charges could still be recommended pending further investigation by police.
