The school district is notifying the community about another COVID-19 case in Nanaimo-Ladysmith.
School District 68 posted on social media that there was another COVID-19 case at Nanaimo District Secondary School. Potential exposure dates were March 30-31 and April 1.
Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools previously advised of a separate COVID case involving a student or staff member at NDSS that same week. Wellington Secondary School also had a COVID case during the last week of March.
The school district points people to Island Health’s school exposures web page for further information.

B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry was asked at a press conference Tuesday whether there was any consideration to closing schools, as has happened in Toronto this week. She said there has been discussion, but said childen need school. She said cases go up when children are not in school and have unstructured time.
“And … the downside impacts on families [of closing schools] is immense,” Henry said. “So we need to find that way of safely keeping children in school so that we can protect our communities and that is something that we take very seriously.”
