Nanaimo hosts annual port authority gathering

NANAIMO – Delegates from shipping community across Canada arrive in Nanaimo next week

Nearly 200 delegates from the shipping community across Canada will arrive in Nanaimo for the association’s 55th Annual Conference Aug. 18-21, a three-day event to discuss the sector’s most pressing issues.

This year, the Nanaimo Port Authority is hosting the conference under the theme: Building Partnerships.

Lisa Raitt, federal minister of transport, will address delegates on the first day, as will Kurt Nagle, president and CEO of the American Association of Port Authorities, Anne Callaghan, U.S. Consul General in Vancouver, and George Anderson, Nanaimo city councillor.

The morning lineup will also include a video welcome from B.C. Premier Christy Clark.

This year, a new offering for delegates is a tradeshow, providing exhibitors with an opportunity to showcase their services and network with the delegates and executives.
