Nanaimo Mounties are investigating the robbery of a Chevron gas station on the weekend.

The Chevron gas station at the Norwell Drive and Old Island Highway intersection was robbed Sunday just before 5:25 p.m. when police responded to a 911 call from a clerk who said a man had entered the business and demanded money from the till.

According to police, the suspect fled once the money was handed over and was last seen running southbound on Corona Avenue. Officers, assisted by Police Dog Services, were unable to find the suspect.

The suspect did not produce a weapon and the clerk, who will be tended to by RCMP Victim Services, was shaken by the incident, but not injured, police said.

The suspect is Caucasian, in his mid 20s, 5-foot-7 and was wearing a black hoodie with an Under Armour logo on the front, grey pants and black shoes.
