Municipality supports cell tower proposal

NANAIMO – Rogers Communications is looking to build a 40-metre high tower near the Mostar industrial park.

A proposed cellphone tower aims to improve coverage in Nanaimo’s Brannen Lake area.

Nanaimo city council opted last month to provide a letter of agreement to Industry Canada for a 40-metre tower as part of an approval process.

Rogers Communications Inc. is looking to build a cellphone tower on Jordan Avenue near the Mostar industrial park, which it says will improve wireless service for the Brannen Lake neighbourhood and surrounding area. According to the company, it mailed out 15 notices to nearby residents about the proposed build and received one comment, to which it has since responded.
