Motorcyclist injured in collision

Speed of motorcycle considered a factor in crash.

A 21-year-old man suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries after colliding with a car around noon on Wednesday.

Nanaimo RCMP say they believe the speed of the 2005 1000cc Honda was a factor when the motorcyclist turned off the Island Highway onto 104th Street and collided with a car turning into Country Club Centre.

Police report the rider was thrown 45 metres from the scene of the impact. He remains in critical condition at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

The 25-year-old driver of the car was not injured.
