A Nanaimo man wanted on a Canada wide warrant has been arrested.
Eric Daniel Reid Kivell, 39, was found, by a police canine unit, hiding in the back yard of his residence on Victoria Road Friday at about 11:30 p.m.
Police issued the warrant for Kivell's arrest Thursday when he failed to turn up at Nanaimo Regional Correction Centre. He had been ordered to attend there intermittently until he completed his sentence after he alleged breached his probation conditions from a previous conviction.
Const. Gary O'Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, said Kivell was arrested without incident after he was sniffed out by the dog. He remains in custody.
