The Martin Mars water bomber will fly over Nanaimo Harbour as a salute to Bathtubbing early Saturday (july 23) morning.

The Martin Mars, the world’s largest water bomber, will make a salutary fly-over to honour the 50th running of the Great International World Championship Bathtub Race this weekend.

Wayne Coulson, president and CEO of the Coulson Group, which owns the aircraft, said the plane will pass over Nanaimo Harbour Saturday (July 23) shortly after it begins its flight to the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 air show in Oshkosh, Wis., this weekend.

It will be a sight for early weekend risers.

“We should get started about 6:45 a.m. and fly over Harbour Air – that’s the best way I can describe the location – at, hopefully, about 7:15 a.m., weather permitting,” Coulson said.
