Man stabbed at Nanaimo trailer park

Alleged assailant was already on a lifetime parole for murder.

A man already on parole for murder is back in police custody following a stabbing incident this week.

The incident happened at about 3 p.m. †uesday, at a trailer park in the 2300 block of Arbot Road in Nanaimo's Westwood Lake area.  A witness called police saying he saw one man  trying to stab another man when he went to investigate noises in the trailer park's communal club house.

Police arrived at the scene and arrested Teddy Antoine, 60, who is a resident of the trailer park.

The alleged victim, also a resident of the trailer park, was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital where he was treated for numerous knife wounds, which police said were non-life threatening.

Antoine, already on a lifetime parole for a murder in 1970, was charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of weapon possession Wednesday. His parole was also revoked.

Police said Antoine had been a resident of the trailer park for a number years without incident and the altercation allegedly occurred due to a disagreement over property maintenance.
