Police in Nanaimo are asking for the public's help to identify a man, armed with a knife, who robbed the Mac's convenience store at 4286 Departure Bay Rd. early Tuesday.

The suspect entered the store at 1:44 a.m., approached the clerk and demanded cash from the till while brandishing a long knife with a black blade. The suspect then escaped from the store on foot.

Police were on scene in minutes, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The clerk was not injured, but was left shaken by the ordeal and is being helped by Nanaimo RCMP Victim Services.

The suspect is white, about 35 years old, 5-foot-10 with a medium build, deep voice and was wearing a black Under Armour hoodie pulled tight around his face.

Mounties are also still looking for the suspect of an unsolved knifepoint robbery at the Bowen Road Shell gas station Aug. 17 and two robberies Aug. 13 at the Esso gas station on Northfield Road and the Terminal Avenue 7-Eleven.
