Lowe's to hire 130 employees in Nanaimo

NANAIMO – Lowe's, set to open at Nanaimo North Town Centre in late summer, is looking to fill 130 permanent jobs.

Lowe’s is looking to hire 130 employees as it prepares to open its Nanaimo store.

Lowe’s home improvement and hardware store, set to open at Nanaimo North Town Centre in the late summer, is holding a career fair June 16-18 to support mass hiring for its new location.

Lowe’s will have 130 permanent positions available and up to 10 seasonal jobs with roles ranging from department managers and sales specialists to night crew, cashiers, customer service associates and a garden centre pro.

Interested candidates can attend the career fair at the shopping centre to learn more about employment opportunities and apply in person. The store’s management team will be onsite to accept applications and conduct on-the-spot interviews and in some instances, will make offers of employment on site.

“We are excited to join the Nanaimo community and have a lot of great employment opportunities available,” said Fred Pagotto, market director of B.C. for Lowe’s Canada, in a press release. “The new Lowe’s will create many new jobs in Nanaimo and we are committed to filling as many positions as possible locally.”

The new store is among four new Lowe’s locations set to open in the province this year. It will have about 100,000 square feet, as well as an attached garden centre.

The hiring fair will happen over three days from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning June 16 and across from guest services in Nanaimo North Town Centre on Rutherford Road. People can also apply at www.lowes.ca/careers.
