People can support this year’s dry grad celebration in Nanaimo by making a donation at any B.C. Liquor Store in the city.

Last year, the Support Dry Grad campaign in B.C. Liquor Stores in Nanaimo and Ladysmith contributed more than $10,000 toward dry grad events. This year’s campaign runs until March 30.

Dry grad events are alcohol-free graduation celebrations organized by parents, schools and/or community groups that are meant to help prevent underage drinking.

“As parents we want our children to enjoy the festivities in a safe manner and the Dry Grad Campaign promotes alcohol-free, post-prom or post-grad events that diminish the possibility of tragic consequences,” said Parksville-Qualicum MLA Ron Cantelon in a press release.
