Strong response to a planned forum on disaster preparedness has organizers advising those who are interested to arrive early.

The Japan to Nanaimo forum was organized by the City of Nanaimo and News Bulletin for 7-9 p.m. Thursday (March 31) at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.

There is seating available for 200, with overflow and video screens in the lobby.

Registration is not necessary, but considering the level of interest, people are advised to show up early.

Speakers include Karen Lindsay, city emergency program manager, Nanaimo Fire Rescue chief Ron Lambert, seismologist Alison Bird, as well as Marley Daviduk and Carisa Webster, who witnessed the Japan tsunami first-hand.
