Federal Liberal leadership candidate George Takach is coming to Nanaimo next week to meet residents and answer questions.
Takach is a technology lawyer from Toronto, an author of four books, an adjunct law professor at Osgoode Hall Law School (York University) and also a father and husband.
He proposes to improve Canada’s economy through technology and investments in research and development, is advocating for a digital bill of rights and wants to improve the Liberal Party by overhauling outreach efforts and making riding associations stronger.
Nanaimo residents can meet Takach on Wednesday (Jan. 16) at ABC Country Restaurant on Mary Ellen Drive from 6-8:30 p.m.
Dinner and a meet and greet is from 6-6:30 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session.
Cost of the event is by donation (suggested donation is $10).
Takach is not the first leadership hopeful to visit the Harbour City.
Deborah Coyne visited Nanaimo in October and Vancouver Quadra MP Joyce Murray was here in December.
Marc Garneau, Martha Hall Findlay, Karen McCrimmon and Justin Trudeau are also running for leadership of the party.
The Liberal Party of Canada will choose a new leader in April.
