Lantzville’s only grocery store scheduled to close

NANAIMO – The only grocery store in the District of Lantzville will close on June 18.

The only grocery store in Lantzville is slated for closure.

Teresa Hamilton, an employee with the Lantzville Market for more than five years, said she was notified of the closure earlier this month and that the store will be closing June 18.

“All I will say is that yes, it is closing,” Hamilton said.

The Lantzville Market has been a staple in the community of fewer than 4,000 people for decades and is located fewer than five kilometres from Woodgrove Centre, Wal-Mart, Save-On-Foods, Costco and the Real Canadian Superstore.

Hamilton said she didn’t know the detailed reasoning behind the closure.

“I really don’t know any of the details,” Hamilton said. “I just know that business is slow.”

Management and owners were unable to be reached for comment before press deadline.
