Accommodation or host families located near Lantzville’s village core are needed for two incoming interns from Germany.

Two female students from the University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigsburg will be interning next year with the District of Lantzville for roughly 17 weeks.

As a result, the district is hoping to find suitable accommodation or host families for the students, who will be learning the ins and outs of municipal administration and working at Lantzville’s district hall.

The first student will arrive on Feb. 19 and leave on May 18 while the second student will arrive on March 15 and depart on June 14.

Trudy Coates, the district’s director of corporate administration, said it is preferred that the girls live near Lantzville office but that it doesn’t matter as long as the landlord provides some kind of transportation assistance. Coates explained that the district is merely just helping the two girls, who are both fluent in English, find accommodation. She said arrangements will be made between the student and the family.

“I’ve seen all kinds of different arrangements,” she said. “Sometimes its just a straight rental arrangement and other times the host family thought it would be a good cultural experience for their children and charged a very nominal rate.”

Coates said the district will forward contact information to the students, who will then determine if the situation or arrange is best for them.

Anyone who is interested in having one or both of the students live at their home should e-mail Coates at trudy@lantzville.ca by Sept. 29.
