Lantzville expenses barely break $3,000 mark

Lantzville councillors spent little more than $3,000 last year, according to documents released by the district.

According to District of Lantzville Statement of Financial Information released earlier this month, councillors spent a combined total of $3,117 in 2015.

The report includes spending from current and previous councillors. Four Lantzville councillors and a number of district staff members quit in the first half of last year. A byelection was held in August.

The highest spender among any current or former councillor was Graham Savage, who billed taxpayers $1,052. Coun. Denise Haime was the second highest, with total expenses of $585. Coun. John Coulson spent $285. Current Lantzville councillors Bob Colclough, Will Geselbracht, Dot Neary and Mark Swain had zero expenses as did Mayor Colin Haime.

When it came to district staff renumeration, Twyla Graff, former chief administrative officer, was paid $145,591 for her services in 2015. Fred Spears, director of public works, was paid $95,085, and Trudy Coates, director of corporate administration, was paid $86,074.

Staff expenses amounted to a total of $20,835 for 2015.
