Lantzville council updates procedural bylaw on meetings

NANAIMO - District of Lantzville procedure bylaw had not been updated since 2004.

A procedure bylaw was the focus of a committee whole meeting in Lantzville earlier this week.

On Monday, councillors discussed a number of issues relating to the district’s procedure bylaw, which hasn’t been updated since 2004.

The issues that were discussed included agenda deadlines, scheduling of meetings and public participation time.

The committee of whole did agree to post council and committee of the whole agendas online earlier in the week.

Currently the agendas are posted on the Friday before an upcoming council or committee of the whole meeting.

In speaking to the News Bulletin afterwards, Lantzville Mayor Colin Haime said posting agendas earlier is a “great idea” for the public.

However, Lantzville councillors were unable to get through all of topics related to the procedure bylaw and will continue the discuss at a future meeting on June 20 at 6 p.m.
