Lantzville byelection date set for August

NANAIMO – Residents in Lantzville will elect four councillors less than a year after the civic election.

Lantzville is heading to the polls. Again.

Lantzville electors will vote to fill four vacant council seats Aug. 8, less than a year after the civic election.

The community saw four politicians of seven resign this spring, leaving council without quorum. The provincial government stepped in and authorized the mayor and two councillors to continue district business until vacant seats are filled this summer.

Nominations for four councillors positions will be accepted beginning 9 a.m., June 23. Advance voting will be on July 29 and Aug. 5.
