As of noon Friday (Aug. 1) campfires will once again be prohibited in all areas of the B.C. coastal region, except for Haida Gwaii and the fog zone.
The ban reinstatement is due to recent sustained dry, hot weather, which is driving up fire danger ratings.
Lightning is also forecast for the B.C. Day long weekend.
All open burning of fires of any size, including campfires, yard-waste fires, land-clearing fires, tiki torches, fireworks, sky lanterns and burning barrels are banned until further notice.
Propane or briquette barbecues, liquid-fuelled camp stoves, and ULC and CSA-approved artificial campfires are permitted.
