Input sought on Beban Park master plan

NANAIMO – The city will host two open houses for the draft Beban Park master plan on Wednesday (Sept. 24) and Oct. 4.

Residents can weigh in on future amenities planned for Nanaimo's Beban Park, during two open houses this fall.

The City of Nanaimo is inviting public feedback into the draft Beban Park master plan Wednesday (Sept. 24) and Oct. 4.

Over the past year, city staff members have collected a community wish list for the 53-hectare campus and designed potential new features for the park, including a perimeter walking trail and expanded dog park. At the heart of the park, the plan also shows the city could have a gathering place and transformed exhibition park with a grand avenue of permanent vendors, as well as an amphitheater, greenhouses and multi-purpose buildings.

The master plan maps out the park's future over the next 20 years.

People can stop by the Beban Park Social Centre on Wednesday, from 4-8 p.m., to see the plans, or on Oct. 4, from noon to 4 p.m. There will be information boards and a survey available.

The master plan can be found online at www.nanaimo.ca.
