Hosts are urgently needed for international students arriving in Nanaimo.

MLI Homestay, which matches incoming international students with host families, is looking for families to host three students arriving from Japan.

The students will arrive at the end of August and in early September to study until June at Dover Bay, John Barsby and Nanaimo District secondary schools.

“We have many committed families ready to welcome students, but there is currently not enough hosts for the number of students arriving,” said Cheryl Lee, of MLI Homestay. “We still need three families to join us and host a student from Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District for the school year. Without hosts we will need to turn away these students.”

Families and visiting students have access to 24/7 support and hosts are compensated to help offset expenses, which is tax-free.

For more information about becoming a host in the program, contact Sherri at sbartolomei@mlihomestay.com, call 250-619-6596 or visit www.mlihomestay.ca.
