Nanaimo Mounties arrested a home invasion suspect they had been searching for since late March.

Reginald Herold Butler, 26, of Nanaimo, was wanted on an arrest warrant for aggravated assault after a 38-year-old man was stabbed during an altercation that ensued March 31 when several people kicked in the back door of his Departure Bay Road residence.

Const. Gary O'Brien said police found Butler hiding in the attic of a home in the 700 block of Albert Street Friday night. He was arrested without incident.

Butler was released from custody on a promise to appear in Nanaimo provincial court on May 31 to face a charge of aggravated assault.
