Massive repairs to remote sections of Highway 14 are expected to finish Wednesday (Oct. 23) evening.

The road could open by 5 p.m. according to Emcon Services Inc., the contractor tasked with maintenance of the West Coast road.

Highway 14 closed in both directions near Jordan River during the first fall atmospheric river that dumped rain on the region Oct. 19. The road closed due to high, fast-moving water throughout the Jordan River and Port Renfrew areas that created washouts of varying levels between Deering Road and Petrel Drive, Emcon said.

Since then, maintenance of about six kilometres between Fore Bay and Fishboat Bay roads at Jordan River had the road closed with no detour available. Work included clearing several landslides and installation of new culverts.
