Harewood neighbourhood plan enters final phases

NANAIMO – Harewood Neighbourhood Plan process moves into the fourth of five stages.

The Harewood Neighbourhood Plan process has moved into the fourth of five stages, with the final plan expected to go before city council in October.

Phase 1 began in May 2012, and since then several design charettes and open houses have taken place to help generate concepts and options for the final draft.

Phase 4 includes a draft neighbourhood plan, which was presented to the public on May 11, as well as ongoing discussions with the neighbourhood plan committee.

City staff are currently revising the draft based on input from this month’s meeting, and will host the final draft neighbourhood plan open house next month, followed by a presentation to the Nanaimo Advisory Planning Committee.

The plan then goes before council for its first two readings in July with a final public hearing in October before council considers officially adopting it.
