Gas station held up at knife point in Nanaimo

Knife-wielding suspect makes off with cash after holding up gas station in south Nanaimo.

Nanaimo Mounties are hunting for a man who robbed a gas station Tuesday.

The suspect, wearing a toque and face mask and armed with a knife, entered the Petro-Canada gas station on Nicol Street Tuesday at about 9:38 p.m., demanded money and fled after the clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash from the till.

Mounties responded with a police dog, but were unable to track down the suspect, described as Caucasian, 25-30 years old, 5'10" tall and weighing about 190-200 lbs.

The man wore a black toque, a beige scarf that covered the lower part of his face, dark sunglasses, black pants with a white stripe, white runners and fingerless yellow gloves.
