Found Christmas gifts awaiting delivery

NANAIMO – Gifts found near Canada Post super box in north Nanaimo require belated Christmas delivery.

A Nanaimo couple are probably wondering why they never received Christmas gifts from loved ones this year.

A bag of undelivered Christmas gifts was turned over to police on Wednesday and help is needed to get the presents delivered to their rightful recipients.

The presents were found Monday when a woman on Vista View Drive spotted a white London Drugs shopping bag at the Canada Post super box. Thinking the bag of presents might have been forgotten, she left it there. When she returned at the end of the day and saw the bag still there she took it home.

After checking around her neighbourhood turned up no leads to the owner the woman's husband took the bag to the Nanaimo RCMP detachment where investigators carefully opened each gift, recorded what was inside and then re-wrapped each one in its original Christmas paper.

The gifts tag inscriptions say they are from 'Doug and Susan' to 'Dad.'

"This is an odd one," said Const. Gary O'Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman. "We think the gifts may have been stolen during a break and enter or a theft from vehicle and, for whatever reason, the thief had a change of heart and decided to get rid of them."

Anyone with information about who Doug and Susan might be, please contact the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
