Forum explores 'green' proposals

Conservation, sustainability and a ‘green’ gateway to Vancouver Island is the topic of discussion at a Sept. 22 forum.

Conservation, sustainability and a ‘green’ gateway to Vancouver Island is the topic of discussion at a Sept. 22 forum.

Co-hosted by the Mid Island Sustainability and Stewardship Initiative and Residents Committee on Water, the forum features guest speaker Neil Dawe, president of the Qualicum Institute.

Dawe’s talk will cover sustainability and why the harder people work, the further they get behind.

The stewardship’s proposal for a ‘green’ gateway to the Island includes connecting a national marine conservation area with local watershed planning and biosphere reserve corridors.

The forum takes place from 7-9 p.m. in Bldg. 355, Rm. 203 on Vancouver Island University's Nanaimo campus.
