One man was hospitalized and two suspects face charges following a home invasion in Nanaimo.
The incident happened late Saturday afternoon at a home on 100 block of Giggleswick Place, where an engagement party was held Friday.
"The girl who attended the engagement party makes an allegation that she lost her ring at that party or that somebody had taken her very expensive ring," said Const. Gary O'Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.
O'Brien said the woman who lost the ring lured a woman who lives at the Giggleswick residence out of the house by inviting her to go shopping, leaving her boyfriend alone in the home.
Two men with a pit bull then entered the house, beat up the boyfriend with a blunt metallic weapon, kicked him, threw him down a flight of stairs and took an undisclosed amount of cash.
The victim, 30, was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with multiple injuries, including a collapsed lung, broken ribs and black eyes, O'Brien said.
Both suspects turned themselves in to police Sunday.
Lloyd Joseph Thomas, 29, and James Stuart Else, 25, appeared in Nanaimo provincial court Monday where they were each charged with aggravated assault, robbery and uttering threats.
