Downtown library closing for renovations

NANAIMO – Renovation work will close Harbourfont library branch for six months, beginning April 2.

Vancouver Island Regional Library's Nanaimo Harbourfront branch is about to close for renovations.

As of April 2, the library will closed for about six months as the building undergoes refurbishments that include new flooring, paint, furniture, fixtures and library equipment throughout.

The Creativity Commons, a second storey creative space that will also be home to a publicly available book publishing machine, is also being added.

During renovations, the Nanaimo Harbourfront Temporary Branch will open a holds pickup area and public computer access area in the former CTV studio space. Children's programming and other services will be temporarily transferred to the Nanaimo North and Wellington branches.
