COVID-19 cases reported at Uplands Park, McGirr, Dover Bay schools

Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools is again alerting parents to COVID-19 cases at its facilities.

According to a social media post from SD68, Dover Bay Secondary and Uplands Park and McGirr elementary schools experienced a COVID-19 exposure, with the potential date Feb. 22.

Island Health has completed contact tracing, the school district said.

Mountain View Elementary and Ladysmith Secondary schools are also listed on Island Health’s COVID-19 exposure list, although Scott Saywell, superintendent and CEO, told trustees on Wednesday that both are expected to be taken off the list on March 2 and 4 respectively should there be no further reports of exposures.

An exposure was also reported at Aspengrove School in Lantzville, an independent school.

Nanaimo District Secondary and Bayview Elementary schools were removed from the list this past Monday and Tuesday respectively, the district said.

As of the morning of Friday, Feb. 26, there were 2,278 cases of COVID-19 in the Island Health region with 37 new cases reported yesterday.
