City council is expected to make a decision on the controversial issues of residential densities and waterfront building heights as they relate to the Newcastle and Brechin Neighbourhood Plan Monday at a special meeting at the Shaw Auditorium.

Residents within those neighbourhoods have been deeply divided over both issues since the development of the plan began 20 months ago.

Council received the Newcastle and Brechin Neighbourhood Plan on March 14 and heard arguments from both sides.

Once council makes its decision, staff will then proceed to amend the Official Community Plan Bylaw for consideration of including the plan and council will give it its first two readings at a future meeting.

Monday's meeting begins at 4:30 p.m.
